FAQS

What is the benefit of earning a BSN?

Many hospitals are Magnet designated, which requires the employment of primarily Bachelor’s-prepared nurses. This means that a BSN is often preferred over an ADN or diploma in many places. Additionally, BSN-prepared nurses have more opportunities for role advancement, opening up many different areas of nursing that may not have been available otherwise.

Is the program all online?

Yes. The post-licensure RN-BSN program is entirely online. The format of the program is asynchronous- meaning there are no pre-set class times to ensure that working nurses have the flexibility they need to successfully complete their bachelor’s degree.

Do I have to do a ton of clinical hours in a group?

No. Clinical components for the course align directly with the course content the student is learning. Clinical experiences will be managed by the student from finding the preceptor to making the schedule and completing the hours. The number of clinical hours varies by course. Students may be able to use their current employer as a clinical site, details will be available in courses where this is applicable. Clinical components are intended to elevate the student’s learning.

Do I have to start in the fall?

No. The RN-BSN program has a rolling admissions cycle, allowing students to begin their post-licensure education in the Spring, Summer, or Fall Semesters.

Do I have to be employed to complete this program?

No, employment while enrolled is entirely up to the student. Each student must have earned a Diploma or Associate’s degree in nursing and have a current, unencumbered nursing license in the state in which they live and/or work. Students entering the program with a diploma may need to take additional courses to meet the minimum required credit hours to qualify for a Bachelor’s degree.

When do RN-BSN students complete their new student orientation?

Once an RN-BSN student deposits, Jerilin will send them information about an online orientation that they will complete through Blackboard.
