FAQS
What is a Radiography program?
A Radiography program prepares students to become radiologic technologists who use medical imaging equipment to help physicians diagnose and treat patients. Students typically learn how to perform X-rays, position patients safely, follow radiation protection procedures, and work in healthcare settings such as hospitals, imaging centers, and clinics.
What can I do with a Radiography degree or diploma?
Graduates of a Radiography program may pursue careers as radiologic technologists in hospitals, outpatient imaging centers, physician offices, urgent care clinics, and other healthcare facilities. Radiography education can also serve as a foundation for advanced imaging specialties and future career growth in medical imaging.
Does a Radiography program include clinical training?
Yes, most Radiography programs include clinical training or externship experiences as part of the curriculum. Clinical education allows students to gain hands-on experience working with patients, operating imaging equipment, and applying what they learn in the classroom in real healthcare environments.
What skills do I need to succeed in a Radiography program?
Students who do well in a Radiography program often have strong communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, compassion, and an interest in healthcare and technology. Because radiologic technologists work directly with patients, it is also important to be dependable, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Is Radiography a good career choice?
Radiography can be a strong career choice for students who want to work in healthcare, help patients, and use advanced medical technology. Many students are drawn to the field because it offers direct patient care, a structured career path, and opportunities to work in a variety of medical settings.
What is the difference between a radiologic technologist and a diagnostic medical sonographer?
A radiologic technologist primarily performs X-rays and may work with other imaging technologies depending on training and certification. A sonographer, also called a diagnostic medical sonographer, uses sound waves to create images of structures inside the body. These are different healthcare careers with different training paths.
Why choose a Radiography program?
A Radiography program can be a great option for students who want a healthcare career that combines patient interaction, technical skill, and diagnostic medicine. It offers training in an important area of healthcare and can help students prepare for entry into a rewarding medical imaging profession.
