About the Program

The Accelerated BSN (ABSN) program allows non-nursing degree holders to complete their nursing education in as little as 15 months through full-time, intensive nursing coursework and clinical progression. The program requires a high level of commitment from students as full-time learners and will prepare individuals for an exciting second career as a nurse!

Accelerated Bachelor Of Science in Nursing

YOU LEARN

BSN and ABSN students are encouraged to work as Patient Care Assistants, Health Unit Coordinators, or Patient Transporters at The Christ Hospital. Student employees are automatically placed into the Career Pathways Program to receive tuition incentives, paid shadow opportunities, and a loyalty sign on bonus for future RN positions at The Christ Hospital. Additionally, nursing students complete clinical rotations at community and elementary school sites and within the region’s top health systems including The Christ Hospital Health Network, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Mercy Health, and TriHealth.

The Accelerated Nursing program

Program Qualifications

Students who have received a non-nursing (BA or BS) degree from a CHEA recognized accredited institution. 

First-Time College Students

  • Hold a Bachelor’s (BA or BS) degree in a non-nursing field from a CHEA-recognized accrediting body 

  • Cumulative College GPA of 2.75 or higher

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

REQUIRED PRE-REQUISITE COURSES*

  • Chemistry (CHEM 105)

  • Anatomy & Physiology I with Lab (BIO 111)

  • Anatomy & Physiology II with Lab (BIO 112)

  • Microbiology with Lab (BIO 121)

  • Pathophysiology (BIO 300)

All required pre-requisite courses must be completed with a “C”
or higher.

*An applicant meeting minimum admissions requirements can apply without any or all pre-requisite courses completed. If accepted, you must commit to enter our “Prep Phase” to have your clinical seat held.

Curriculum

Our Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program (ABSN) program allows non-nursing degree holders to complete their nursing education in as little as 16 months through full-time, intensive nursing coursework and clinical progression. After acceptance into the program, students will be placed in the Prep Phase or Clinical Phase, based upon prerequisite credit completion and clinical space.
